Above the Smoke
My criteria for a iPhone case are: 1. great protection against physical damage; 2. great gripiness, which is conducive to #1; and 3. a camera button that does not drive me nuts. The Otterbox Protector series, which I have long favored, totally fails #3 This ESR Phone case satisfies #1 and #3, but is too slippery to be satisfy #2 Finally, the Smartish iPhone 17 Pro case satisfies all three criteria, seems almost as good as the Otterbox for #1, is much superior to the ESR for #2, and its camera button is not hypersensitive, starting when not desired.

I am beyond impressed by the durability and protection that the Smartish iPhone 17 Pro Case MagSafe, Gripzilla, Heavy-Duty Grip, Black | Magnetic, Rugged protector provides. It fits securely, and the grip is perfect. While it does add weight, it's worth it to protect your phone. Easy to install, and the buttons work well. Good price. I highly recommend it.

I LOVE this phone case! This is the best one I've ever bought & worth the price. It's durable & fits my iPhone 14 plus PERFECTLY. This case is durable, well built, easier to hold, & protects better than any I've owned. I ordered this in black, it's a bold colored black that doesn't smudge or fade. I never spend more than $20 on a phone case but after continued disappointments, I went the distance & ordered this one. I have NO regrets & will buy another one when it's time to buy another phone. Superb quality, durable, snug & perfect fit, & protects on a whole new level. A MUST buy!

This case works very well with a newly purchased iPhone 17. Although textured, it is not quite as grippy as I had expected, but in several ways this is a good thing as noted later. The case itself is rugged but not as bulky as the photos suggested. Even with the Magsafe capability, it is still rather slim, and does not add too much bulk to the phone. Because it is relatively slim however, the raised ridge on the back around the camera lenses are ever so slightly below my tempered glass lens protectors leaving the lens protectors somewhat exposed. I would have preferred the protective raised ridge to be slightly thicker, but then again, I guess that is what the glass lens protectors are for anyways. The outer edges of the case are thick enough in height so that even with the relatively thick aluminum glass tempered screen protector I placed on my phone screen, the case still raises the screen off a flat table top slightly if I place the phone screen side down, thus adding protection to the screen saver. Buttons work very easily on the case and the case is fairly rigid and fits very well on the phone with no discernible gaps. The case is very easy to install, but because it is somewhat rigid, is much more difficult to remove. Although the case itself is not “rubbery” and so is not quite as grippy as my older Otterbox cases, this is not such a bad thing as the texture is grippy enough, but since it does not have as rubbery a surface, this one does not collect as much lint/dust. It also makes it a little easier to remove from a tight pocket without snagging. Overall I am very pleased with this case although I hope to never “test” it on my phone. Cannot speak to the durability as I have just installed, but it appears to be well made and a great value for the money compared to other comparable cases. The color of the case is as illustrated (I purchased the tuxedo black to go with my tux LOL) and overall I am very pleased with the purchase as I needed a rarely robust case for when I take my phone out golfing but did not want a real thick ruggedized case.

Returning: reason: MagSafe is not strong enough for my use in the car with a MagSafe phone holder. I am comparing it the Mbot which has excellent magnetic properties. What I love about this case is its thinness to durability ratio. It checks both of those boxes. Its has great grippiness and won’t slide when you put it down. The case is hard and feels well made. The texture of the case is great however, my personal preference is for something a tiny bit softer of a feel. The camera button is super responsive. Overall, it really is a great product and worth the money. Unfortunately for me, if the magnet was better , it would have received 5 stars. To be clear, this product is great but just not perfect for my specific needs.

I can already tell you this new 17 pro max case is worth your purchase! It is the same quality if not better than before. I won’t buy another brands case. I might just a buy a few of these in more prints! The edges are perfect to protect the new screen design of the 17. It also has the raised rim for the camera and sensor area. The transparent design nicely showcases the color of the phone. It fits perfectly and is easy to hold. The camera button and other buttons are easy to use. I cannot recommend this case enough. The case for my 13 pro max tells you everything you need to know. The galaxy print gripzilla case is 4 years old. It’s the original case I bought for the 13 and I never had to replace it or my phone. Even have the original screen protector. I have very poor coordination and am horribly accident prone. Trust me that phone has met the ground many times from various heights and situations. Several times I thought it was for sure the end and it dusted right off. Case didn’t even show wear until the last year or so where the MagSafe ring is. I’ve used a MagSafe pop socket and charger since the beginning. If you’ve read this far, take this as your sign and order the case!

A Loyalty That Paid Off: When I upgraded from my iPhone 14 Pro Max to the new 17 Pro Max, I briefly considered other cases but ultimately came back to the Smartish Gripzilla - and I'm glad I did. The previous version was, by far, the best phone case I've ever owned, lasting years without compromise, and this new model maintains that standard while adding smart improvements. The Unbeatable Grip: The defining feature of this case is the Gripzilla technology. The grippiness is simply outstanding and does not wear off over time. Unlike sleek cases that require you to clench your phone just to keep it from slipping, the texture of this case gives you secure control with minimal effort. Perfect for the On-the-Go User: For those of us who spend a lot of time walking, commuting on buses, trains, or subways, or just juggling multiple items, this is the essential, go-to case. The confident, secure hold prevents drops in busy, unpredictable environments. MagSafe Performance: Other attractive cases often compromise MagSafe charging stability, but the Gripzilla's magnetic strength is excellent, locking securely onto my chargers and accessories every time. Rugged Protection: The Rugged + Tough" description is accurate. The case looks similar to the older version but features noticeable upgrades to the corners

I am obsessed with this case! It feels like I am not going to break anything while I have this on, which I intend to never take it off. I have a screen protector as well that I put on, so hopefully that will protect it. I could have saved a lot of money if my iPhone 11 had been in good condition when I bought this new iPhone 15 pro. But, since it was cracked, I got no trade in value. I think this time when I get a new phone, I will get maximum trade in value! The case, at first, felt a bit sand-papery, and maybe slippery? But those thoughts faded quickly after I used the case for a day or two. Now I love holding it and it feels very grippy and just a nice surface to touch. The best part is the sides have these little groves in them for your fingers. It positions them in the perfect spot to hit your buttons on the sides of your iPhone 15 pro. With the other case I tried, I kept hitting the new action button because I'm used to gripping my phone higher up the case. With these new grooves, I don't have to worry about that, and the action button is just in reach where it should be. Also, the corner bumpers have a real, genuine looking protection to them. But somehow the design makes it look cool and not like overly big or awkward. In fact, the case has a beautiful design and is very cool, minimal, and slim. This is my 1st product review after using Prime for prob 15 years. That's how much I love this product I tried another popular brand Sp____, but found the case not protective enough.

Update: I'm five months short of the three-year mark of using this case, and it's still 100% functional and protective. There seem to be few products of any kind that you can say *that* about after almost three years. I definitely recommend this case. =-=-= Original review: This case is serving me well. I came from an OtterBox Defender case that I had on my iPhone XS Max, which set a pretty high bar for grippiness. This case is not grippy in the soft, rubbery way that the Defender was, but it is textured and shaped in such a way as to make it about as grippy as it could be while still being made out of the material it's made out of. And speaking of the material it's made out of, I fully expect that, because it's harder than the Defender case, it's going to hold up better than the Defender did. OtterBox struck a certain balance between durability and the soft kind of grippiness I was looking for when I bought this case, and the Defender did an outstanding job for a long time, but one day it just suddenly started giving up the ghost – I'd handle my phone and come away with black stuff all over my hands because the case was disintegrating. I'm thinking that what this case foregoes in soft rubberiness it will make up for in durability. The increased hardness probably also translates into greater shock to the phone if it's dropped, but iPhones can handle a lot (and I almost never drop my phone) so I'm not overly worried about that. All in all I think this is probably a solid choice for an iPhone case and I expect it will hold up and protect my phone very well. *Update, 14 months in* - I've grown very much accustomed to this case and its hardness, and it has protected my phone (I think I've dropped my phone once in these past 14 months). It looks nice in a simple kind of way, and is comfortable in the hand, with its little indentations for your fingers. Every indication I've gotten so far is that this case will last for at least as long as I have my phone, however long that may be: as yet it shows no sign of any kind of degradation, whether dent or ding or just sort of disintegrating like the OtterBox cases eventually did. I'm thinking that, even with its hard feel in the hand, this is the perfect phone case.
